Dr. Henghua Su joined XJTLU as the Director of the Modern Languages Centre and Senior Associate Professor in September 2021. Her previous position was an Assistant professor and Chinese Language Programme Coordinator at Indiana University Bloomington in the United States. Dr. Su received multi-disciplinary postgraduate trainings in Chinese, Linguistics and Second Language Teaching. Her research interests are Chinese linguistics, linguistic typology, motivation and dynamic learning. She has supervised a MA programme in Chinese Language Pedagogy for nearly a decade and taught Chinese language and content courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for sixteen years. Her professional experiences include directing summer programmes in China, serving as a consultant for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) , teaching at University of Wisconsin-Madison and Utah State University, as well as working as a translator and interpreter in linguistics, literature and business sectors.
