Dr Wan Hu (Victoria) is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She did her postgraduate study at the University of Nottingham, gaining an MA in Chinese/English Translation and Interpreting and a PhD in Translation Studies.Dr Hu is the author of Education, Translation and Global Market Pressures, published by Palgrave Macmillan. She has also published widely on international peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and textbooks revolving around translator and interpreter training, specialised news translation, as well as higher education policy. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for a research project supported by the National Social Science Fund of China.
Prior to her role at XJTLU, Dr Hu worked in Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, where she taught a broad range of translation and interpreting modules, undertook postgraduate supervisions, set up an innovative model for the university-industry collaboration in the translation field, and held a central role in the founding and strategic development of three academic programmes at both UG and PG levels.
In addition to her academic experience, Dr Hu has also worked as a translator, interpreter, and international training programme coordinator since 2011.
