Dr Geoffrey Chun-fung Chen is Associate Professor and Department Head of China Studies at the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. His interests focus on comparative political economy, the interplay of environmental protection and economic development, and the politics of sustainable energy. His scholarly work on these topics appeared in New Political Economy, The Pacific Review, Third World Quarterly and other peer-reviewed outlets. He is the author of Governing Sustainable Energies in China (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and co-author with David Toke, Antony Froggatt and Richard Connolly of Nuclear Power in Stagnation (Routledge, 2021). Dr Chen holds a Master of Arts from SOAS University of London and a PhD degree from the University of Bath. At XJTLU, he teaches courses on Chinese political economy, private enterprise development, industrial policy, and public sector reforms.
