Martijn Rigters is a design practitioner and lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University since August 2020.

Originally from the Netherlands, Rigters graduated from the MA Design Products course at the Royal College of Art in London and has since been working with international institutions like the Centraal Museum Utrecht, Crafts Council UK, and M&C Saatchi; and has been collaborating with companies like Steelcase, Tre Product and Transnatural.

In 2018 Rigters founded together with Namuun Zimmermann, the contemporary design office Studio Sain, focussing on both conceptual object design as well as socially engaged educational programs for diverse institutions. The duo has been working with Vienna Design Week, Konzerthaus Vienna, Serpentine Galleries, and others.
