Born and raised just outside of Dublin, Ireland, Dara Sheahan has been teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for over ten years.

Currently the Professional Development and Training Manager at XJTLU’s English Language Centre, he has previously taught EAP at both Seoul National University and Kyungpook National University in South Korea. He has designed and developed a number of courses and assessments over his teaching career, mainly focusing on academic writing, speaking, and presentation, as well as general EAP.

Dara is a passionate and energetic teacher who values the nurturing of an active, engaging, and student-centred classroom. He sees the role of an EAP teacher as that of a facilitator of learning, and to that end believes in the importance of careful task design, engaging group work, and the promotion of independent learning.

He has been living in Suzhou since 2017, and you can often find him near Jinji Lake, happily dining on baozi, jiaozi, or biangbiang mian.
