As active researchers, the Staff of the Department of Literature is all members of XJTLU’s University Research Center for Culture, Communication, and Society. Our current projects include monographs on Evelyn Waugh and Cinema, the Paris Commune of 1871, and British novelist Elizabeth Taylor, as well as a major comparative study of Chinese literature and climate change.

Colleagues in the department have also edited some important contributions to their fields, such as the Cambridge Companion to Literature and Climate, Literature and Sustainability: Concept, Text and Culture, Teaching Gender, and an edition of Ann Radcliffe’s The Romance of the Forest.
