6/16/97 "Dear Debbie, I think your Joe Montana page is awesome!!! I saw Joe in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Super Target grand opening. I was kind of disappointed that he could only sign Hanes pictures. Anyway, I thought I wasn't going to get his autograph because he was supposed to leave and I was at the back of the line. But, when it was time for Joe to leave, he stayed after and signed even though he didn't have to. I was so excited when I got up there to get his autograph. I thanked Joe for the autograph and shook his hand. Then I asked him if he was going to play next season and he said, "I hope so." This was on March 19, 1995. He announced his retirement on April 12, 1995. (I will Email you the pictures of him at Super Target when I get them scanned.) I also won a Joe Montana autographed football through the Coors Light Beat Joe's Picks Contest. (Actually, my Mom's name was on the entry.) I couldn't believe it. I would like to write Joe if you could get me his address. I would love that! Thanks for your time," Bill Krumel. Wow, Bill! I'd never wash that hand. I'll email you his address at IMG. Thanks for writing! 6-18-97 "Hi, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for your Web page about Joe Montana. I have been a Montana fan for a number of years and I am currently doing a presentation on Joe's leadership qualities for school. (I am not a kid. I am a 37 year old female returning to school.) Anyway, although I have a lot of info on Joe, your page gave me some additional stats and resources to confirm my opinion that he was not only a great quarterback, but a great leader as well. Does Joe have a Web page or e-mail address? Thank you again, " GrnRam415. Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, I do not know of an email address for Joe, and although there are other personal home pages dedicated to Joe on the web, I don't know of any pages where you can contact him - except if you sign up for a membership at CBS Sports Line. Joe will soon have an NFL column there, and I hear that you'll be able to leave email to him. I have my fingers crossed that he may visit my site. If you sign up to read his sports column at Sports Line and you leave him an email, please remember to mention my web site to Joe if you think of it. Good luck!" 6-18-97 "Hi, Great page,...just a note from the Netherlands - thanks for your info!" Caroline. Thanks, Caroline! 6-21-97 "Great site! I'm a Niners fan, but I came across your page looking for info on Arrowhead Stadium. I hope to get to the Niners/Chiefs game this season. Thanks for creating such a fabulous tribute to the greatest quarterback ever," smusmu. I hope to get to that game, too! Maybe we'll see each other. I'll be the one with the Indian head dress, Chiefs logo painted on my face, red pompoms, beads, and bells on! GOOO CHIEFS!! 6-22-97 "Hi Debbie, What a great page and a wonderful tribute to Joe. I am Joe's first cousin and I still live in Monongahela where Joe was raised and played high school ball at Ringgold. Believe me when I say that high school basketball and football were no less thrilling than the pro's when Joe was on the field or court. My Mother will flip when she sees your page. And I'll let on to all the other family members about the great site I've found. Thanks for your interesting and accurate facts. Keep it up!!!" Arlene Arlene, I'm honored. And you made my day. Please keep in touch! 6-22-97 "Dear Debbie, My name is Tim Nagel. I love your Montana pages. They are great. I printed out almost all the pictures. Keep up the great page. Also, if you can find anymore KC pictures of Joe and put them out I'd appreciate it. Thanks," Tim. Glad you enjoyed the pages, Tim. Take care. "6-23-97 "Joe's page definitely, without a doubt is "The Best."" Comfail Thanks! 6-24-97 "Hi Deb! Great player....great site. Very nice job! Very impressive! Can you send me his e-mail address? Keep up the good work." Eric Fornier Sorry, Eric, I don't have his email address. I'd be happy to email you his address at IMG. Take care. 6-28-97 "Debster, I want to say thank you for doing such an excellent job on your Montana tribute. Some of us loyal fans turned in our season tickets when Joe left for K.C. I even tried to be a K.C. fan, but I love San Francisco too much. It was a shame the way the club handled his departure. I did get even with all those Steve Young fans out here when the other Niners played at K.C. Their pocketbooks helped ease my pain in seeing Joe in a K.C. uniform. From a true blue loyal to the death Montana Fan, your page is wonderful. I have a customer who fishes with Joe's dad, I will let him know about your page and pass it along to Joe." Rolf Johnson Rolf, I know how you feel. It broke my heart when San Francisco let him go, and they haven't been able to find anyone equal to Joe since. I hope Joe's dad enjoys my site. Talk to you soon! 6-29-97 "This is Chaz30 from MPlayer...I like your site, hope to make mine look as good!!" Charles Harding Hey Chaz! Glad you like it. See you back in the Scrabble Game Room! 6-30-97 "A great web page on definitely the Greatest QB of all time. Thank you for creating this page dedicated to the real "Comeback kid" in the NFL. Better than John Elway or Dan Marino any day. He was a class act in the NFL and I was glad he beat the 49ers when he was with the Chiefs. They were stupid to let him go but I am glad that the Chiefs got him. Thank you!" Jill Barth. Jill, I'm in full agreement with you. You're welcome! 7-7-97 "Hello Debbie, My name is Betty, I was born in Mexico City and I don't speak English but I would like that you will know my opinion about your page. It's very complete and interesting, I always searched for Joe Montana pages, and this is the first time that I found one fantastic page. He's my favorite football player. I would like to see him play but it was impossible. I have a T-shirt that I keep in my closet because I don't see any more here in Mexico. It is very special, it's a comic about Joe. Bye and I'll hope that you could understand me," Monica Osorio Hi Betty! He's my favorite player, too. I'm very happy that you emailed me. Keep in touch! 7-8-97 "Hi Debbie (excuse the informality). I am 16, but currently working for a computer company and when lunching at the pub someone said 'if you ever feel down you should search for DEB-ON-THE-WEB and you'll feel better. Low and behold, one week, four days later after finding out my favourite cousin was going into hospital to have his appendix removed, here I am. He was right. I felt much better after reading about your family and reading your homepage. I have to say that I think you have a great family and I loved the part about the Hero in Hearts. Anyway, Thanks for cheering me up. Last of a dying breed, The Gentleman..." Richard Combes, UK "Richard, my heart goes out to you. I'll remember you and your cousin in my prayers. Take care. 7-8-97 "Debbie, this is an awesome site. It's one of a kind. Debbie, I have a question for you. Where can I get a list of all the Joe Montana cards that was ever made? I've been collecting Montana cards for 3 years now and I have approximately 500 different cards . Also can you tell me how many cards of Joe were made? Thanx for the site." D. Chung. I don't know the number, but there's a bunch. If someone has the answer to this, I'm sure they'll email me and I'll post it. 7-11-97 "Hi, even here in France we heard about Joe Cool. This sport in no longer the same without him. I was a fan of the 49ers before he left, but I got to say that now my heart belongs to the Chiefs. You got a great page with wonderful pictures. I hope you will get an exclusive interview of Joe. All my best." Harang Jean-Charles, France. I never thought about an exclusive interview, but I'll see what I can do. Keep in touch. 7-11-97 "Thank You for a site that tells it all. Joe Montana should have a tribute because he is the greatest QB in the world. Don't get rid of this site!" Daniel Farrell. Thanks, Daniel. 7-12-97 "Dear Debbie, Please help me w/something - if you can . . . see if you remember the following. The Setting: Joe had already won 4 Super Bowl rings. And could have taken the 49ers to yet another Division Championship . . . and the FIFTH ring. But, he never got the chance. Instead of putting Joe in for the last 10 minutes of this game, Coach Siefert stayed with Steve Young . . . all the way to the end of the game. I remember VIVIDLY toward the end of this game . . . one camera "cutting" over to the S.F. sidelines (at least twice) in the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter and showed Joe with his helmet on & snapped warming up. I mean WARMING UP SERIOUSLY !!!! But, Siefert never called on him to go in . . . and San Francisco lost. And with it went Joe's true destiny . . . As they were filing of the field to go to the locker room, a cameraman caught a really good close-up (about a 10 second shot) of Joe walking by. Joe was drenched! I mean the sweat was still pouring off his face. Just from warming up. That's how seriously HE WAS getting READY to go into the game. That image is forever etched in my memory - as truly - one of the saddest moments in all of NFL history. If you can, please try to find out for me the YEAR/DATE of that game. Also, the opponent. As I want to try to locate a videotape of the entire game - one that includes that final scene of Joe walking off the field. PLEASE help if you can - Thanks!" Jim Wallner You know, I remember watching that game and screaming at the TV set for Siefert to put Joe into the game. Does anybody else remember this? Email me with the answer! 7-12-97 "Hey you have a great 49er web page. I am hoping one day mine will look as good as yours and have as much stuff. Anyway, I have a 49er web page and I was wondering if you could put a link up to it in your page? Mine is pretty good, it's getting better as time goes by like most pages seem to do. http://members.aol.com/paleraptor/index.html Please let me know." Mike Mike, consider it done. 7-12-97 "Debster, One of the loyal Montana fans just saying hello again. I have not had the chance to talk to my customer who fishes with Joe's dad yet, but I will not forget to tell him about your site. I just got my website up and running. Sorry, no Montana photos. But there is some data on my business and fishing stuff. If you and hubby ever want to go fishing south of the border let me know, I can help you plan a trip." Rolf Johnson. Thanks, Rolf! I just may take you up on it. I just gotta find somebody to bait my hooks, because I refuse to touch anything except floating garlic cheese for trout, or maybe a frozen anchovy or two. Yucky! What can I say? I usually wimp out and make my hubby do it. It's either cheese . . . or whine. : ) Keep in touch! 7-12-97 "Thanks for your Web page, Deb. When I asked my fiance what he'd like from me for a wedding present, he jokingly replied, "If you could get me Chief's cap autographed by Joe Montana, I'd never ask you for anything again!" I would love to get one for him, just to show him how much I love him, and just to see the look on his face when he opens it up the night before our wedding. I would appreciate it if you would email me Joe Montana's address and if you have any other advice to help me get this priceless gift. Thanks," Amelia Gardner I don't have Joe's email address, but your best bet for anything autographed by Joe would be to contact Upper Deck Authenticated and ask for a distributor in your area. You'd be able to purchase items signed by Joe. 7-12-97 "Excellent job on the page Debbie. I'm so glad stuff like this is out there for the fans. I'm a HUGE fan of Joe's and only wish I was a little older so that I could have been a young adult when he was mesmerizing the world during all those Super Bowls. I'm 27 now, and I have managed to construct a "shrine" of him in my spare bedroom! I was wondering if there is anybody out there that may have some copies of Joe's Super Bowls. Surely someone had the VCR's rolling! I copied what proved to be His last two games, and I'm so glad I did. If you know anyone that can help me, please forward the info to me!! Also, do you have Joe, or his management's address so that I may e-mail him to say "hi" or even get an autograph? I'm not an autograph hound, but I sure would like to get his without paying a million dollars for it! Thanks once again for the tribute." Jason Sheroan I'll email you Joe's address at IMG. Good luck! 7-12-97 "Debbie- Your page is great. I'm 18 and was QB for my high school. I loved watching Joe play. I've seen him once in Atlanta when he demolished the Falcons. I almost got in a fight with the Atlanta fans. Anyway could you please mail me his address. Thanks and keep up the good work!" Bill Sure Bill, it's on its way. Thanks for the compliment. 7-13-97 "Deb, It would really be cool if you could have a Joe email link on your page! I, for one would love to be able to send Joe an e-mail telling him how much I loved his work for the 49er's! I am a real Joe fan and took some great photos of his retirement Party in San Francisco. Where is he doing book signings! Is he going to appear at the 49er's training camp this year? Let me know!" - Bill Soulsby Alas, I do not have his email address. But I will email you an address where you can write to him at IMG. And if anyone has any info on dates and appearances, please let me know and I'll post them. 7-18-97 "Debbie, Your webpage is an answer to prayer!! It's great, the best I've seen. I have been looking for something like this for some time. I have followed Joe since his days at Notre Dame straight thru his retirement. I saw something in him the first time I ever saw him play and knew he would be GREAT! I've kept him in my prayers during his good times and his rough times. I share your dream of meeting one day. My son is 24 and idolizes Joe. He has his rookie card that he dreams of having signed by him along with over 150 other cards of Joe, jerseys from SF and KC, posters etc. I have a few things but nothing can take the place of seeing him play . . . I really miss him, but I'm glad he is spending the time with his family . . . value time. There is NOBODY ELSE that can or will ever touch his greatness and what's really awesome, he stays his gorgeous humble self. Can't beat that! It was so good to see your response to someone regarding the SF49ers letting Joe go and keeping Steve Young . . . I was SO UPSET OVER THAT, not just upset, absolutely furious!!! That was Joe's team . . . he built the team, led them and took them where no other QB will ever be able to . . . have not done it yet for the 49ers . . . his achievements will stand a lifetime! I hope my love and best wishes in all his endeavors will be passed on to him. I also noted that it would be possible to receive an email address and mailing address for Joe in several email requests - would you email me both addresses for myself and my son? Good Luck with your webpage . . . it's terrific! God Bless, " Sandy Turner. Sandy, thank you for the kind words. You know exactly how I feel about Joe and his family. I'll email you his address so you can write to him at IMG. Please write to me again. Take care. 7-19-97 "Frankly, I am bowled over with all of the stuff on your page. It's me. The guy who was doing the equipment inventory (with property tags) at the hospital and in your office the other day. Thanks for pointing me toward your site. I've enjoyed it. P.S. Little known fact: Joe Montana and Barry Manilow are the same person." Tim Lewis. Thanks, Tim! (He's one of the few people who has seen the Montana Shrine in my office, complete with a six foot cardboard standup of Joe!) Drop by again soon! |
