Note to my readers: Because of a Joe Montana trivia contest, and due to it being the holiday season, I received tons of email asking "What's the town in Montana that renamed itself "Joe?" and "where can I buy this or that for a Christmas present?" I've decided not to post those E-mails. If you're extremely disappointed that your E-mail wasn't posted, then by all means, send another E-mail to me.
12-23-98 "Thanks for the memories and great pictures! Joe is the best!!!" -
Linda ForretteThanks, Linda!
12-22-98 "I like Joe Montana and the 49ers. I don't like the Chiefs, though. Joe Montana has led them to 4 Super Bowls, and that's amazing! Steve is pretty cool, but not as cool as Joe Montana, he is my favorite quarterback." - from Joe's favorite fan, Casey Russell.
Hi, Casey. Thanks for visiting the site.
12-21-98 "Hello! Great Montana page. I see that you are still a 49er fan. Nothing against the 49ers, but when Joe went to K.C., I went to K.C. also. I have been there ever since. Where having tuff times now but next year should be better. But the reason I E-mailed you was to see if you had any information on how to get tickets to go see Montana get inducted into the hall of fame? I hear it will be the year 2000. Any idea how much tickets would be? Thanks A lot! Go Chiefs!" - Randy Quanstrom
Randy, haven't you noticed the Chiefs logos on my site? I'm a Chiefs fan, too. I will have a page with the Football Hall of Fame Info on it soon.
12-16-98 "Hello to a fellow 49er-16 fan! My name is Sarah and I was born and raised in Hiroshima. You probably can guess, but Japan is rather far removed from the world of American sports. It wasn't until just about a month ago that I was "introduced" by my father to the game of football, and to a particularly brilliant player named Joe Montana. I have since fallen in love with the game and have collected all the tapes I could of Joe, which has been difficult, given the fact that he retired several years ago and I live on the other side of the world. I really appreciate your web site and I have to admit that I visit it regularly, trying to get as much information about him as possible. I love your pictures of him, especially those of him with his teammates. That's one thing I'm interested in knowing, is who he was closest to among his fellow 49ers and Chiefs. Do you know? I heard he was best friends with Dwight Clark, and I heard something about Brent Jones, and from your pictures and what I've seen in the videos of his games, he seems to be close to Ronnie Lott. I know his kind of talent and character would win a lot of hearts, but if you know who he was friends with in particular, could you E-mail me that information? I'm just curious. Thank you for your time. And keep up the good work! I was overjoyed when I came across your web site and realized that there is a vast majority of football fans who haven't forgotten that gallant, exceptionally gifted quarterback called Joe Montana." Thanks again," - Sarah Jones.
Hello back-to-ya! I'm not qualified to comment on Joe's personal friendships or relationships, and I wouldn't even if I could, out of respect to Joe. I'm glad you like the site! Take care.
12-6-98 "I haven't had the chance to really check it out yet, but I love what I see so far...I followed Joe back to when he came off the bench behind DeBurg and a guy named Scott Bull. Followed him until he retired. He was the best and always will be! Keep up the good work..." - Ms. Softball.
Thanks!
12-4-98 "Hey Debbie, I love your web page. It's nice to see others who agree that Joe is the best quarterback to every play the game. Not only that, he also positioned himself as a true role model for many many kids growing up in athletics (including myself). Since the age of 9 or so, I watched as he guided his teams to many victories, overcame enormous injuries, and displayed true sportsmanship and love for the game. Role models in professional athletics are few and far between these days, Joe was certainly born to be a leader of both his teammates and America's youth. Thanks again, Debbie. Hope to see you in Canton, OH when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame.....it's only about 2-3 hours from where I live. Can't wait. Would you happen to know an email address or some way of contacting him over the internet? If so I'd appreciate any information. Thanks. Take Care," - Brian Anderson, Hilliard, Ohio.
Hi, Brian! Yes, I'm planning on being there. The best way to contact Joe is through his official fan club site at: http://www.joemontanafanclub.com .
12-3-98 "Hi Debbie, Your web page is excellent, I really enjoy reading through it and looking at the pictures. I am interested in making the trek to Canton, Ohio to see Joe's induction into the Hall of Fame. Can you tell me when that will be and if I need to purchase tickets or anything? Thanks for your help. Sincerely," Joe Downey .
It will be in 2000. I don't have the info yet, but I'll find out and post it on the site.
11-13-98 "Debbie, We loved visiting your web site! From 1986-1992, I served as the catering chef to the Niners at the San Francisco Airport Marriott. I prepared and presented all their pre game meals at the hotel before all their home games. Joe was always polite and professional in all the interactions we ever had with him. I was proud to be a part of a team that appeared in 5 NFC Championships and won 3 Super Bowls during that time span. It was the chance of a lifetime! All the Best," - Terry, Los Angeles.
Wow! That's neat! Thanks for sharing!
11-8-98 " I had the pleasure of having season tickets for the 49ers from 1982 through present. I don't believe I missed a Montana home game. I was there at his last game against Detroit. Although I still love the Niners, I will never have the same passion as I did during those years that he was playing in S. F. Maybe one of his kids will grow up to be a NFL quarterback. Wouldn't that be a riot...Best Wishes," - The NinerRiot!!!
It took a bit of getting used to watching the games without Joe, but I still love football. Take care!
11-6-98 "I think your page is great because I think Joe Montana is great. I believe Joe is the greatest Q B. Never be another like him. I love the pictures." Kitten44.
Thanks, Kitten!
10-30-98 "Hi, I am a 28 year old woman who has a husband who pulled for Joe when he was at Notre Dame. My husband became a huge sports fan (all types) because of Joe and the wonderful example he set. We are extreme memorabilia collects and have a room which is a shrine to the great man. We even have a rare uncut sheet with Joe Montana's rookie card in it framed which runs from floor to ceiling on one wall, we have almost all his cards, footballs, starting line-ups, hallmark ornaments, etc.... He is the greatest ever. I hate football, but I love Joe Montana and I will watch anything and everything he is on. My husband and I both cried when he retired and my husband just now got over the way the 49ers got rid of him, he still pulls for them due to Jerry Rice being wonderful. But they were dumb to get rid of the man. Please post my e-mail. We are still collecting his memorabilia. I wish we could meet him someday, my husband would pass out, literally." - Deidra Hicks, and Ray Hicks Jr.
Hi Deidra! I don't know where you live, but if you subscribe to the Montana Magic ListBot on the opening page, you will get announcements as to where and when Joe will be at sports card shows throughout the US. Take care!
10-20-98 "Hi Debbie, My name is Daniel. I live with my brother, mom and dad. I'm 10 years old. How old are you? I like football, baseball and hockey. What do you like? For Super Bowl XXXIII me and my brother are making our mom make some of our favorite snacks. I got to go now. Bye." - Daniel.
Howdy, Daniel! Let's just say I'm 29 years old and holding. You are a super kid for making goodies for your mom for Super Bowl. Enjoy the game!
10-20-98 "I lived in K. C. when I was 5 till I was 12 and moved. We watch all the Chiefs games on television (me and my family). If it is not on T.V. we go to a bar and watch it. I think your web site is great. I am 14 and doing a report for school. Thanks for all the info." - ShtKiKN
You're welcome! Let me know how you did on your report!
10-8-98 "Debbie, I just love your web page! Growing up with a single mom, Joe was my inspiration to play sports and most of all to never allow anyone say you can't do anything, cause as Joe proved over and over again during his career you can do anything no matter what the so called experts say! It is a great feeling knowing there are more people like myself who see Joe as not only the greatest quarterback to ever play, but also a true role model! I missed a golden chance to see Joe play during the 94 season due to my military obligation, but one day, I will get to meet Joe cool. I visit your site regularly and enjoy all the sound bites and pics. Keep up the great work and I will talk at you later. GO JOE!!!!!" - Matthew Evans
Thanks, Matthew!
