November and December 1997

Hi Everybody!! Before I begin sharing the latest E-mails, I have to tell you - I WAS THERE at 3Com Park in San Francisco that fateful Monday night, December 15th. What a party!!! My hubby Karl and I took vacation from work for a couple of days, and we drove up to San Francisco that Sunday.

Dodging raindrops all the way, we wondered if we were going to get drenched Monday night. But trust me on this - God is a BIG 49ers fan, because we had good weather Monday Night. On Monday afternoon, we got to 3Com at 3 p.m., figuring that being three hours early would be a good idea. We weren't alone! The place was packed. The atmosphere was absolutely electric! We stood in line to buy programs, and as luck would have it, we bought the last two Game Day programs. There were a LOT of disappointed people. Vendors were selling entire cases of programs to people driving by on the street. No wonder there wasn't enough for the masses.

Once inside the stadium, my hubby and I had to split up because we couldn't buy seats together, but who cares? Karl is a sweetheart - he knew how much this game meant to me. He gave me the seat closest to the field, and I was seven rows from the field in the season ticket holder's section. In fact, when Jerry Rice made his touchdown, he practically fell right in my lap. Karl, unfortunately, was in the second row down from the top in the nosebleeder seats at the opposite end of the stadium. (I told him it was because he was a Broncos fan.)

I sat with the most fantastic, fun people I have ever had the pleasure to cheer with! Everybody knew everybody, and they welcomed me into the group like I was a long lost friend! Every time something good happened for the Niners, we'd jump up and give hi-5's and hugs, and then scream and whoop and holler! My ears went a little deaf from the gal sitting next to me bellowing "DEEEEE FENCE!" in my ear, but once I joined in, it didn't matter. I was hollering with everybody else: "JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!" "EDDIE! EDDIE! EDDIE!" "JOE! JOE! JOE!" I remember a referee making a disagreeable call, and then the cries from the stadium echoed throughout: "BULLSH*T! BULLSH*T! BULLSH*T!" I stood there wondering if ABC was picking this up on their microphones! I also found out all about "chugging Jell-O shots" from my newfound friends, but I'll leave that to your imagination (although I passed on that). And when Huey Lewis and the News sang the Star Spangled Banner in sweet, perfect harmony with the altered lyrics "Oh Say Can That Old Joe Montana Yet Play?", the crowd went wild!

All in all, it was an incredibly magical evening with friends, fireworks, the 49ers, Jerry Rice, Huey Lewis and the News, Eddie DeBartolo, Bill Walsh, and of course, Joe and his family. It is a night I truly will never forget. I was very honored to be there, to be part of the festivities, and to join with thousands of others showing Joe how much we love him. I wish you all could have been there with me! I know you were there in your hearts...

- Debbie Miller

12-30-97 "Love your page! Joe Montana is without doubt the best quarterback to have played THE GAME. KANSAS CITY RULES. Rock on, Deb!" - Cantwell

Yes he is, and yes they do! Happy New Year!

12-29-97 "Good day! I'm Veleda McCord's daughter-in-law using her E-mail line and would like to inquire if you know of any possible way to E-mail Joe Montana or any current team member. My 40 year old brother has been a real Chief's fan since 7th grade and he is currently battling against a progressive liver condition. Last Friday his doctor told him things were "shutting down" and instead of six (6) months of waiting for a transplant he might have six (6) weeks. He has gone through a battery of tests and paperwork through Omaha, Nebraska and it would give me great pleasure to see that he goes to another game soon." - Joni

Joni, you can email Joe by sending it in care of his website at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com. They print out his emails once a week and put them in the mail to his home. His family will get it and he'll get back to you. I hope this helps. My prayers are with you and your family. Let me know if you hear from Joe. Take care.

12-28-97 "Just a note to tell you that we love your page. Keep up the good work. Would like to know if you know where I can get a Joe Montana "doll" as seen on the December 15th celebration. A fan in the stands had a rather large one in his arm. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!" - Harriet.

Not off the top of my head. Check the various memorabilia sites - and there are hundreds of them. You may get lucky. Good luck!

12-27-97 "Debster, Great site and I have enjoyed reading the other emails and your responses. I am also a major collector of Montana and would be interested in getting in contact with other collectors for trades. What ideas do you have for me? Is there a collectors list of everything that is out there on Joe Montana? Also, I would like to email or mail to Joe and see if I can get a response. I just met him here in Southern California right before Christmas and it was a big thrill for me. I got him to autograph a pro jersey for me which is hanging on my wall now. He is great and so is your site. Thanks and I can't wait to hear from you." - Don Crane, Coto De Caza, CA

I have been contemplating doing a page listing Montana memorabilia contacts for some time. There are literally hundreds of web pages listing items for Joe. I may have something up sometime in January. Let me know what you'd want to see on such a page. My major concern is that I have no way of knowing whether someone's memorabilia is "the real thing," unless it is Upper Deck Authenticated, and I don't want to be even partially responsible for somebody getting ripped off. If I do it, it would have to be on the basis of "buyer beware." How great it must have been to get to meet Joe. I hope someday I'll get to. Thanks for the compliments on the site!

12-26-97 "Great page!" - KLomba8533

Thanks!

12-25-97 "Great Site, Debbie. Nice to meet you. I'm 15 miles from Kansas City. Too bad Joe didnt get that last Super Bowl in 1993 when the Chiefs almost made it to the Super Bowl. Gosh, they lost to Buffalo, but anyway, just wanted to point out something small and very minor on your webpage that is wrong. Not that I am a huge perfectionist, but on the Joe Montana Chiefs Photo Gallery, the picture thats titled "Scanning down the field," Joe is about to hand the ball off back from center to one of the running backs, so it's the opposite of what you have. Just thought I would let you know. Other than that, it's wonderful, I love it! Keep up the good work! Bye bye" - Jim Kraft

Oops! Back to the drawing board. Thanks for letting me know! Merry Christmas, Jim! Do you go to the games in Arrowhead? I'm trying to get a Chiefs bumper sticker, and all they have out here are dumb old Cowboys stuff. And why is that? Go figure...

12-24-97 "Hi Debbie. Here comes the playoff and KC has a chance to win. I hope that the Super Bowl will see KC against the 49ers. I've been waiting for this since Joe moved to the Chiefs. Whatever the result, Joe will be on our minds and in our hearts and maybe his spirit will flow over the stadium of San Diego. It's Christmas Day here, and everything can happen. Still a great site. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and all your family" - Jean-Charles Harang, Paris.

I would dearly love for the Chiefs to go to the Super Bowl this year! To tell you the truth, I thought we had it once before until Elliott goofed up that field goal, but let's not go there. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

12-20-97 "Great website. I agree he is the greatest quarterback. All I can say to those who disagree is just count how many Super Bowl Rings does he have. Some say it is Marino but let me tell you when NFL players play the regular season they all play for Super Bowl. So when the crunch time comes of course Marino chokes and Cool Montana delivers in his last minute heroics. Marino might be one of the greats in regular season so is John Elway, and Boomer but when the game was on the line and it was a playoff especially bring on Joe and Rice my man!!!!!!" - Riz Mulla

Thank you for the compliment. Joe wasn't called Joe Cool for nothing. Merry Christmas, Riz!

12-18-97 "How old is Joe? Thanks, Deb, and Merry Christmas!" - D. Finch.

Joe was born June 11, 1956, which makes him 41. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

12-17-97 "I just found your web site and have really enjoyed the info. I, too, am a major fan and have been collecting memorabilia since June 1993. I know that's a late start, but better late than never. I have a major sports card collection, and I'm thrilled just to read anything about him. I would love to have his E-mail address and a snail mail address if possible. Thank you" - Clifford & Jo Ann Leach

It's never too late to do something that you enjoy! You can write to Joe at his fan club site at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com. It may take awhile, but he promises to write back, even if it's snail mail. Good luck!

12-17-97 "Hey Debbie, What did you think of that Monday night halftime ceremony? I loved it, but in a sense it made me sad. It just made me want to have him play a couple more seasons. Why couldn't Joe just have played one or two more seasons after Kansas City? That "One More Year" ceremony in Kansas City made me think he would play again. I also wanted to ask, since his jersey is retired and all, do you know where I could order an authentic number 16 49ers jersey of him? I don't want one of those replica ones because I already have two of those for each team. Thanks a lot." - James Purvis

What did I think about the halftime festivities? Terrrrrrific!!! You should have been there! And yes, it would be great to see him play again, but it's wonderful that he went out in grand style. He's enjoying his family and doing the things he's wanted to do for years but had to put on hold. Be happy for him. About the jersey? I just bought his SF 16 jersey from Upper Deck Authenticated. You can't go wrong with Upper Deck - and when you buy from them, it's the real thing. Keep in touch, James.

12-17-97 "HAIL to the CHIEF!!!!! I'm one of his greatest fans. We all will miss Him!!! The NFL isn't the same without the Come Back Kid, Joe Montana. I'll miss him." - Roy

He may be gone, but he's not forgotten. Hail to the Chief!

12-17-97 "Dear Debbie, I really like your Web site. I am hoping you can E-mail me Joe Montana's address at IMG. My best friend's son is a huge fan of Joe's, and I would like to get an autographed picture for him. Do you suggest sending a self stamped envelope with my request? Any other suggestions? I am also requesting that you do not use my E-mail or name on your Web site. I am shy! HA! But thank you for taking your time to read my E-mail!" - T.I.

Check out Joe's fan club - when you join, you'll get a newsletter, pictures, a t-shirt, and other goodies. Your friend's son will love it!

12-16-97 "Yo, Debster...nice site....got a question for you. Would you have any idea what a KC Chiefs' team pennant featuring Joe and #19 on it would be worth to a collector now? I also have a KC Chiefs' sweatshirt with his likeness and #19 on it. Thanks!" - Singerman2.

Well, I can't help you on the value of memorabilia. When I get something of Joe's, I plan on keeping it forever. But I'm sure you can find out. Have you thought about checking out the sports memorabilia collectors books at stores like Barnes and Noble? That's my favorite place to check out things - at the store where I live, you can pick up a book, sink back in a cushy arm chair, and flip the pages to your heart's content. Hope this helps!

12-15-97 "My wife Lynda and I are Joe fans and have been Chiefs fans every since Siefert and Young ran him out of town. We will be watching him tonight when they retire his jersey. Young will be eating his heart out when the stadium shakes with cheering when Joe takes the field." - Bill Biersma.

Yes, indeed! That's why I follow the Chiefs to this day. I wonder, if Siefert had to do it all over again, do you think he would have made the same choice?

12-14-97 "Hi, Debbie. My name is C.J., and I am 18. I have been cheering on Montana since before I really knew what football was. Montana is the best ever to play the game in my book, and I, too, would like an address which I could contact Joe and tell him what he means to me. Thank you for your time." - C.J.

Sure thing, C.J. Check out Joe's fan page site on the web. That's the best way to write to him. Let me know if you hear back, ok? Take care!

12-14-97 "HI! I'm a huge fan of Joe Montana, even though I am only 11, I have been watching him for eight years and I admire him and my dad the most in the world. If possible, can you send me his E-mail address? Thank you." - Matthew (Litlefarly).

Matthew, you have picked the two best role models around. Your dad must be very proud of you. Go to Joe's web site at http://www.joemontanafanclub. You can leave him email there. Good luck!

12-14-97 "I lived in the Bay Area till 1992 so I lived the glory years as a 49er Faithful. But when Joe got traded, I was glad that he was able to still play. I was lucky enough to meet Joe and a lot of the Niners because I worked at Stanford Hospital, and they had their kids there . I will be watching from my home in Seattle and enjoying the tribute, but I wish I was still there cause there is only one Joe!!!! Thanks!" - Roy

Roy, that is a great memory! I know how you feel. Thanks for sharing!

12-14-97 "Thanks so much for the tribute to Joe!!! Monday will be a sad day!!!!" - SCCORN

Hey, remember the good times and the fun you had watching the games! And don't forget you can always pop one of those games in the VCR and relive it all. Take care.

12-13-97 "Great Web Page! Thanks!" - Don Morris

Thank you, Don!

12-12-97 "Deb, I'm doing a book report on Joe Montana and I need to know when he was born. Could you help me? Thank you." - LM Stafford

Sure. June 11, 1956. Think we can persuade Congress to make it a holiday so we can have another paid day off from work? Nah, I guess not, but I bet we'd have a shot at it in San Francisco! Good luck on the book report - you get an A+ from me for subject matter!

12-12-97 "Debbie, What a great find!!! I was looking for something "Joe Montana" and found your site. My mother is huge Joe Montana Fan and she is retiring today from AT&T, and my brother and I are having a big surprise retirement party for her on Sunday before they retire Joe's number. She's going to the game on Monday and I thought I'd search around to get some Joe Stuff for her from the web. Keep up the great work. A 49er Fan in SoCal," - Brian Quock

Brian, you are a mom's dream come true! Last year for Christmas, my son got me a framed Joe Montana sports card, and I cried crocodile tears - it was the first real honest-to-goodness grownup gift he's ever given to me. And it hit me - my kid is growing up. (sigh) Where does the time go? I know she will love whatever you give her - but the best thing you can give her is a big hug, and you telling her "I love you, Mom! Congratulations!" Have a blast at the retirement party (and I'll keep your secret!).

12-11-97 "Hi, Deb. Loved your web page! Joe is the greatest. I've been looking here for a long time to find someone with the taste you have - cool! I've had the check blanks for about a year and a half now, I get LOTS of comments on them. People say "Why isn't there anything on his helmet from his teams?" They don't understand NFL properties registration part of life. I just got his #16 autographed jersey. They (the Niners) are retiring his number on Dec. 15th, the same night Jerry Rice wants to be back. I take it you're a K.C. fan huh? I'm Niners first-Chiefs second. We (my wife and I) try to make it to one game a year in K.C. That place ROCKS!! The first game we ever went to was the first year Joe was in K.C. and their first home game was against THE 49ERS - remember it? Joltin' Joe won it with style. Well I don't have much else to say so I'll go. Oh, bye the way, my name is Troy and I live in Sioux Falls, SD. Bye for now." - Troy

Gosh, I want to go to Arrowhead! I know it's got to be fun! I love the Chiefs, and I still have a place in my heart for the 49ers. Have fun and keep in touch!

12-10-97 "Hiya. Do you have the song "Montana Kid?" Someone I know just sent it to me so I thought if you don't have it I would send it to you!!!!!!!! Just E-mail me back if you want it! It is a song about Joe going from San Fran to KC. Also, thanks again for the card . . . I am putting it on my web page with credit to you of course! I wish I could make my page as nice as yours . . . if I ever do I will put it in for one of your awards! Let me know if you want the song. Yours in Joe heaveness," - Linda.

Hi Linda! I would LOVE to hear that song! I'm E-mailing you my snail mail address. Little known secret - I give out my award to almost anyone who would like to have it. I won't give it to anyone who's site contains porn, violence, or if it's hurtful to others or in plain bad taste. But other than that, if you have the talent to create a web site, I say "it's yours!" By the way, if you need help writing any html code, drop me a note, and I'll try to help you. I'll be watching my mailbox! Take care.

12-10-97 "Hey Debster! I just discovered your Montana Fan Club web site, and I must say it is quite impressive. Your E-mail music is also pretty stylin' . . . Anyway, my name is Howard Schwartz and I am the football sport manager at Upper Deck Authenticated ("UDA") down in Carlsbad. We are a sister company of The Upper Deck Company, who manufactures sports and entertainment trading cards. We have been doing Joe's autographed collectibles since 1992 and wanted to alert you and the fan club to a pretty cool event that UDA is doing on Tuesday night, 12/16, the after Joe's #16 is retired. We will be doing a Montana salute on The Home Shopping Network beginning at 8pm Pacific Time, 11pm Eastern Time. The show will feature some pretty cool autographed items of Joe's as well as Jerry Rice, Dwight Clark and Roger Craig! We will also have some very hot commemorative cards that UDA and Upper Deck produced to salute Joe's career with the 49ers. The best part is that we will be highlighting the show with several taped interview segments that we did with Joe last September after an appearance that Joe did for us at the new ESPN "The Store", in Glendale. We're excited . . . I think all the Montana fans will be excited, too. We just completed an autograph signing with Joe and Jerry Rice last Wednesday, in SF, and I can tell you, Joe is very excited. Jerry said he wants to come back on Monday night . . . just for Joe. I think that's pretty classy . . . Anyway, I'm glad I found you. I hope you do not feel this was a shameless plug for UDA. Well, maybe a little. But hey, I'm a big JoeMo fan, like you . . . I can't help it. If you would like to E-mail me back, please do . . . Regards," - Howard.

Thank you so very much for all of this info. Because of you, I was able to get my SF 16 jersey with Joe's signature. It is my pride and joy! Let me know if you have any other promotions coming up, and I'll list it here. Upper Deck Authenticated IS THE VERY BEST. Thanks again, Howard!

12-7-97 "G'day Debbie, Thanks for the "Montana-Card." It is good to know that things are good for Joe. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family. Warm Regards," - Don & Karen Curtiss.

The very best to your and your loved ones!

12-7-97 "What is Joe's middle name? If you are such a Montana fan!" - Mave0124.

Well, er....ah... You got me. I don't know. I can't find it in the books. I do know that his middle initial is C. You will have to write his mom at his fanclub site for the answer to that one.

12-4-97 "Hi Deb your web sites are outstanding. Both my wife and I are fans of "Joey" as my wife calls him. We understand that Joe Montana and Joe DiMaggio are to be in San Juan Capistrano sometime soon to sign autograph and auction some memorabilia for charity. Have you heard anything about this? If so please let us know the dates, times, and location if at all possible. Thanks" - MJB and PMLB

EPILOGUE 12-6-97 "Hi Deb! We just picked up the paper and found out where Joe Montana and Joe DiMaggio will be signing autographs. Today December 6, 1997 you can preview the items to be auctioned and tomorrow December 7, 1997. Joe Montana will be signing autographs for $150.00 per at 9 am. Info phone number is 714 223 9945 location is: The Beautiful Westin, South Coast Plaza Hotel, 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa, CA. Thanks for trying to find out for us. I guess patience is a virtue." - mjb and pmlb

It was pouring down rain, and I tried to drag my hubby out of the house, but he had the sniffles, and you know how men get when they are coming down with something. I missed out on this signing, but if you hear of another, please let me know. Thanks for getting back to me.

12-6-97 "Dear Debbie; Came across your page by chance and I love it. I am a close friend of Joe's and have just set a page up with a small section for Joe which I hope will grow, I have placed a link to your page there - hope that is okay? www.users.bigpond.com/sf16. Regards," Tom Elevato.

Absolutely! I'm putting a link to your page on my site. Chat with you soon!

12-5-97 "Debster: Nice page.!!!!! I think there will never be another Joe Montana, ultimate cool. Cooler than the other side of the pillow. Catch his retirement ceremony for #16 to be etched forever as a 49er." - Gordon

Gordon, I'll be there! And I can't wait! Keep in touch!

12-5-97 "Your web page is really good, the best tribute to Joe Montana I've ever seen. Keep up the good work." - VAdessa.

Thanks, Vadessa. I'll do my best.

12-5-97 "I represent Boy Scout Troop 578, and our newest Eagle Scout, Ryan McCauley, would like to have a letter of congratulations from Joe Montana. I need his address so I can write and ask for a letter of congratulations. I'm hoping you can help me. Thanks," - Nancy.

What a wonderful achievement! My congratulations to Ryan! Go to Joe's web site at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com. Joe will answer all email and snail mail. Thanks for writing, Nancy.

12-5-97 "Stopped by on a Sports Fan Club Search and your sight came up on Yahoo. I'm forming a Fan Club for an Arena Football Team here in Florida. I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions. What's makes you an unofficial fan club? Why not official?? And did you get those checks designed yourself? Thanks" - Gene Wells - GO STORM!!!

It's unofficial because it is not endorsed by Joe. He has his own official fan club now, which wasn't around when I started my site back in 1996. The information on ordering the checks are on the bottom of the cover page of the Unofficial Fan Club Pages. I love them! Good luck with your fan club, and GO STORM!!

12-4-97 "Deb, I have a been a fan of Montana's since second grade (I'm now 23). It was hard for me to a fan of Joe's because my dad and brother were (and still are) Giants fans. A couple of Joe's more devastating injuries came at the hands of Giant's players. It was great when the Niners beat the Giants but when they lost my brother never let me live it down. I don't have a favorite team anymore because my favorite player is gone, but thanks to your website I can see what's happening with him. I was so excited to find out that the Niners are retiring his jersey. I've taken up enough time babbling. Could you sent me an E-mail address where I can reach Mr. Montana? Thanks a bunch! Sincerely, " - Stacey Gotsulias

Stacey, so great to hear from you! I have no love of the Giants for the very same reason as you. Go to Joe's fan club site at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com and send him an E-mail to their address. He'll get it. Stop by and babble with me anytime, ok? Bye for now.

12-2-97 "Hi, I like your web page. You did a great job. I have a question for you. My husband's idol is Joe Montana and I am having a Christmas party with a trivia game, and I want to ask a question about Joe, do you have any suggestions?? I thought about asking what year Joe Montana retired from football and from what team. Do you know what year he retired?? I know he retired from Kansas City. Thanks in advance for your assistance." - Donna Leon

Hi Donna. If your hubby is a Montana fan, those questions are way too easy. Pick up a copy of Joe's autobiography "Montana" written by Joe and Dick Schapp. You'll stump him with info from there, I promise you. If you can't locate that book, then pick up Joe's newest book "The Art and Magic of Quarterbacking." The pictures are wonderful in both books.

12-1-97 "Does Joe have an interest in coaching? They sure could use a QB coach at Notre Dame." - Donna Greg

I haven't heard, but my guess is not anytime soon. I don't know if he wants to be tied back into a football routine again. It will be interesting to wait and see.

11-30-97 "Did you see the Chiefs vs. the 49ers game? It was a really good game if you're a Chief's fan. Not so for the 49er's fans! I hope you got the chance to watch it. I image that it sold out & they had it on T.V.? When I first e-mailed you with the score, it was almost half time. What a BLOOD bath!!! WOOHOO!!" - JDSPROUL

And wasn't it grrrreat!! I hope that it will be the 49ers and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, and that Marty, Marcus, and Elvis will scalp Mariuchi and the boys! This will be the Chiefs year!!

11-29-97 " Very nice web page on Joe . . . really enjoyed it, nice job. Thanks!" - A.J.

Thanks, AJ. Drop in often!

11-29-97 "Maybe you won't care about this, but I have to tell you that you have made a Joe Montana fan dream come true. I am from Mexico and I am 19 years old. (As if it were important). Any other way I want to thank you for doing this page, everything I could imagine is there. Thank you so much for sharing your interest in Joe Montana with other persons, I hope that life will return you the big favor you did at least for me. I would like to have more news about you and from any other pages you may have on the web. Send more news to me. Once again, congratulations for your abilities." - Cobra

Cobra, thank you! You are important! You made my day with your kind words. That's why I have these pages, because we all care about Joe and we want him to know it. The best of everything for you! Please stop back by often, and write to me. Talk to you soon, my friend!

11-26-97 "Hey Debbie, your Joe Montana page is just great. I'm a Swiss football fan and I played football as one of the first guys here in Switzerland. I really love this game. Take care and have a nice day" - Danny

Hi, Danny! Wow, all the way from Switzerland! Is the web great, or what? You have a nice day, too!

11-26-97 "I love your Joe Montana website. It is one of the better galleries of him on the Internet. I am a very big fan of Joe Montana. He is the GREATEST QB to play in the NFL. If you have any other Joe Montana items, please E-mail them to me. Thank you for your time." - Jason Yeary.

Thanks, Jason! He is THE GREATEST QB. And there's a lot of us who think so! Thank you for writing to me!

11-25-97 "I think your Joe Montana page is DA BOMB....=) . . . Oh yeah! Where are you from? How old are you? Will you marry me? =) just kidding!....But I thought any one female that loves Joe as much as me would be worth a shot . . . Bye bye!" - Rich in Green Bay.

I love it! I had to ask my kids if "DA BOMB" was good or bad! Is that a hint that I'm too old for you? Rich, sweetheart, never ever ask a woman her age, unless you're carding her when she orders a drink! If you have to ask her, she's probably too young for you! By the way, I'm very happily married. But - I do love Joe as much as you! Rich, are you a Chiefs fan masquerading as a Cheese Head in Green Bay? Tsk Tsk... Thanks for dropping by!

11-21-97 "Debbie, I just want to say this is the most impressive work on Joe Montana that I've ever seen. I thought I loved Joe Montana. You have some really great pictures. I've been a Montana fan since he started on the 49ers. I have a lot of Montana stuff also, I have one room set aside for all his stuff. I just want to say you've done a great job on your page....From another Montana fan," - Margaret Vandercow.

Margaret, thanks for the high praise. I have a lot of Montana items, but I'm sure you have a lot more than I do. My office at work is like a museum, and it's great! Please stop back by the site often, and keep in touch!

11-20-97 "I must say this is by far the best web site I have ever seen. I personally feel that Joe Montana is the best player in the world. Two thumbs up to you and your site " - Montana Fan Joe T (TripDog16).

And I personally agree with you! Joe is the best player. Thanks for the compliments!

11-16-97 "Hi! My name is Oscar and I am a big fan of Joe Montana. I would like to hear some fresh news about him. Do you have more pictures of him also? I live in Mexico, so here we do not have posters of him. I hope you can return this mail. Thanks a lot!" - Oscar Hernandez.

Howdy, Oscar! The best way to find out what is going on with Joe is to join his fan club at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com. Then you'll receive regular newsletters on the latest about the greatest. Take care!

11-11-97 "Debbie, What a wonderful site!!!!! I love it. Is there a way to write to Joe either electronic or snail mail? Is he likely to respond with perhaps an autograph picture for my son? Thanks we enjoyed it." - Nippy143.

Nippy, you're in luck. Go to his web site, and join the fun! Thanks for dropping by.

11-9-97 "Debbie, thanks so very much for the excellent Joe Montana page. My wife and I have been "Joe" fans forever. Whenever there is a 'close' game and under a minute to play, I remember that if JOE! had the ball, the "other" team would have lost. Just like that. We are watching the Steelers "crush" the Ravens on Sunday night football (11/9/97). The game is so one-sided we began to reminisce about good games and "better" players -- naturally, The Man! became the topic. We are excited to hear that his jersey is going to be retired on the December 15 Monday Night game. Thanks. Please send his address. We'd love to send some fan mail. In appreciation, Don & Karen Curtiss. P.S. Karen is 'way better' at football facts than I am. Warm Regards," - Don

Don, I remember it like it was yesterday. Joe was great! Check out Joe's web site and you can send him E-mail there. Take care!

11-8-97 "I love your site. It is the best site on the Greatest Quarterback all time Bar-none. A lot of people say Joe Namath is better Joe Montana - I tell them to get off the drugs, it is rotting your brain. JOE MONTANA - GREATEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME. You can take that to the bank and cash it " - Yocuz234

Now there's a new twist on a classic public service message. Namath's a great guy, too. I love your enthusiasm!

11-7-97 "Hi! Great Joe Montana Web page! Could you please E-mail me Joe Montana's address? Thanks a lot! And keep that great page going! Thanks!" - Erika Sommers

Erika, visit Joe's Official Fan Club Site. They'll take good care of you. And thanks for the kudos!

11-6-97 "Just wanted to thank you for having such a great Montana Site. I too am a Joe Montana disciple and remember vividly that 1981 "catch." Thanks again . . . " - Jim DeMarco.

Ah, yes, The Catch. Wasn't it perfect? I don't know if you saw it, but if you go to my Montana Sound Bites page, you can click on The Catch and hear it again in all its glory. My thanks to you for stopping by.

11-6-97 "I found your address via the INTERNET. I'm trying to find the right address, E-mail, or person to contact to have Joe Montana come out to support our school fundraiser. I am a parent bound and determined to get other parents involved with their children and the school. The Parent Teacher Organization wants to get away from having the children sell items "door-to-door." We have thought of different possibilities like having a Pancake Breakfast, Spaghetti dinner and even a Sports Clinic/Autograph session, photo session and maybe even a silent auction of different items signed by Joe. I'm hoping you'll be able to lead me in the right direction. Please let me know any type of information possible. We are aware that once we get a point of contact we will have to but the request in writing and on school letterhead. All we need is that magical address. I'll be anxiously awaiting to hear from you. Don't delay, please?" - Karen N. Blair, SSgt, USAF

Karen, your best bet is to contact Joe through his fan club site. It never hurts to ask. He does have a heck of a busy schedule. Good luck!

11-6-97 "Hello this is Ron Nelson Here. I have been a fan of Joe Montana since I was 5 years old. I would like to know where to write to him and possibly get an autograph on one of my many collector edition cards. Nice webpage." - Ron Nelson.

Hi, Ron. Joe's been appearing at sports shows and doing signings. I don't know about his signing schedule, but send an E-mail to his fan club. I'm sure they have the list of where his appearances are. Take care!

11-4-97 "Hello, I am looking for a source for a poster of Joe Montana. Can you help me locate one? Thanks. Your web pages are GREAT!!!!" - Kim Chadbourne.

I'll do my darndest! Two ideas: 1. Call The San Francisco 49ers administrative offices (area code 415) and ask for the telephone number to "The Fan Club" their official booster club. Call them, and ask them to physically check to see if they have any more of their Joe Montana posters called "Hail To The Chief." It's not in their computer listings of items. If they have any of those left, they're about $8 (if memory serves). 2. If you can't locate a poster, how about a 6-foot color life-size cardboard stand-up of Joe? Call the Coors Distribution Center and ask them for one. I got one from the Anaheim California Coors Distribution Center, and if you call them and pay the postage, they'll give you one for free. Ask to speak to the gentleman who is the manager of the distribution center. (FYI, he's used to women calling up to ask for Joe's stand-up.) By the way, the area code for Anaheim California is 714. Hope this helps. Good luck - and let me know how you do! Take care!

EPILOGUE: "Debbie, I just wanted to let you know that I was successful in locating a Joe Montana poster!!!!! Thanks for all your help. I ordered the black and white poster I wanted and am thinking about joining a fan club. The people at The Fan Club were very nice and very helpful. Thanks again for your help!!!!" - Kim Chadbourne.

11-1-97 "My name is Zach. You have the very very very BEST Joe Montana page on the web!!! I'm only 12 but, I am one of his biggest fans. My room is literally a Montana shrine!!! I've been a CHIEF fan (and Montana fan) for 7 years now. I really really like this new CHIEF team, especially Grbac and Spiderman (Rison) and Tony G. (Grbac and Tony will be big stars). I already have an Elvis Chiefs jersey but I can't find any other new Chief jerseys. Do you know where I should look to find them? I also can't find any Grbac web sites do you know of any. I would like to join your fan club, so could you send me some info. GO CHIEFS !!!!!!!" - Zach Truty

Hi Zach! Thank you for the wonderful words about my site. The best place I've found for player jerseys for all teams would have to be the Sports Illustrated catalogs. They have jerseys for almost everybody. You can call up SI and ask them to mail you a catalog. And if you want to find Grbac pages, go to my links page, and click on Charlie's Chiefs Page. He has lots of links, and lots of info on Elvis. Another good site to find is the Chiefs War Room page - it's complete with the Tomahawk Chop chant! There is nothing to buy, nothing to do, to be part of my Unofficial Joe Fan Club. Just enjoy! And when you post an E-mail, I'll add it to these pages. Keep in touch! GO CHIEFS!!!

11-1-97 "Hello, my name is Jake Quanstrom. I'm a big Montana fan. Still waiting for my chance to see him. I'm kind of upset. People always say that Joe's two years with Kansas City were a waste. People say that he should have retired when he left the 49ers. I think that those couple of years in KC were great. People forget that he was only one game away from taking the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. What do you think? Great page! One of the best. Do you think you could send an E-Mail address? Thanks a lot. GO CHIEFS!!" - Jake

Jake, don't listen to those baboons! They're just jealous and lashing out with plain old trash talk! I'd just look at them when they start mouthing off about Joe and laugh and walk away. What a bunch of garbage. Joe was terrific at Kansas City, and everything I've read about him with the Chiefs has been nothing but terrific. Have you read Marcus Allen's new book? He loved being on the same team as Joe - they both arrived at the Chiefs at the same time. Those people badmouthing Joe aren't Cheifs fans. In a couple of more years, Joe's a shoe-in in the NFL Hall of Fame. Don't forget that. If he wasn't so great, why did Monday Night Football forgo any half-time interviews in favor of his jersery retirement ceremony? When is the last time you ever saw a sports show do that?? Brush it off, my dear, and shine them on. You're not alone! GO CHIEFS!! Keep in touch, Jake!

11-1-97 "Debbie: This site is without a doubt the best I've seen. Subject matter appeals to a diverse audience, access to interesting materials, and tied together well. You should be proud of this work. I have a 13-year-old daughter who is a MAJOR Joe Montana/Notre Dame fan and would love to have Joe's address. She will only wear Joe's old college number (3) in every sport and would make Joe proud with her accomplishments. Thanks," - Jon Humble.

Hooray for your daughter! She has a very proud daddy, and that says it all! Thanks for the wonderful review of my site. I try very hard to make it informative and fun. I am very proud of it. Check out Joe's fan club site at http://www.joemontanafanclub.com and you can write to Joe there. Thank you, Jon!
