June 21: Tokyo is an amazing, vibrant, busy, exotic, modern city.  Much like Southern Cal, there are many cities that surround Tokyo- total area population, about 20 million.  About the same population as L.A. county, but concentrated in an area half the size.

I stayed at a very nice hotel in Shinigawa.  The best shopping for electronic toys and watches was in Shinjuku.  Spent a lot of time there…the most expensive shopping was in the famous Ginza. Amazing department stores.   The best customer service!

Everywhere we went (my hosts were fantastic!), we took the train or a subway.  Efficient, clean, easy to use - what a concept for a mass  transportation system.
