6-9-98 "Hi. I was asked
by a friend to try and find out what Joe's birthday is. It happens
to be the same as someone else's she knows, but can't remember. Anyway,
since you seem to have the sight with all the info, maybe you could tell
me. Thank you in advance" - SDBICK.
.
Joe's birthday is June 11th.
I always remember it as being a week earlier from Paul McCartney's brithday.
But I guess that only works if you're a Beatlemaniac. ;)
.
6-9-98 "Debbie, I'm going to meet Joe
Montana on the 8th of August! Also, did you hear that hear about
him taking a front office job (GM) with the 49ers?! Later!" - Zach
Truty.
.
I hear rumors... But you never
know. Remember when Joe was going to be on the CBS Sports Zone site?
That fizzled. And speaking of fizzling, what happened to Joe's Chat that
was promised to us on his site? Darn.
.
6-8-98 "I just have to say that this is
on e of the best sites I have ever seen on an NFL player, let alone JOE.
I also would like to say that I agree with you that he was the best then
and he is the best there ever will be. Finally I'd like to say Great
Job on the site for the Greatest Leader Football the World will ever know
JOE." - Joe Pinkston.
.
Thanks, Joe! You're wonderful!
.
6-5-98 "Hi there, Deb!
I just wanted to let you know that I checked out your wonderful Joe Montana
site! I loved it! Especially the great pic of Joe outside practicing.
I have that as my new start up page! Good job!!! Where did you get some
of these pics? I just love that man!!!! Feel free to
write to me anytime! We Montana Girls have to stick together...hahaha!!!
" - Carey Shepherd
.
Yes, we do! You think Jennifer
will let us try out to be second string? Nah, I don't think so either.
But thanks for the accolades!
.
6-3-98 "I just wanted to say that I love
your site. I have been a Montana fan all my 15 year life. When
I heard he left SF, I yelled at the TV. When I heard the news
that he retired, I cried and yelled at the TV. Football isn't
the same without "Joe Cool." I will be a Montana Fan until the day
I die. MONTANA IS THE BEST QB EVER TO PLAY! I play neighborhood
football, and when I am QB, I try to be just like Joe. He has
been a big influence on my life. Joe, I love you man!
(But not in THAT kinda way.) One of Joe's many fans,"- Jon Bennett.
.
Jon, you're not getting his (root)
beer. And your poor TV! Don't shoot the messenger! (only
kidding!) Jon, you picked the Quintessential Quarterback for your
role model. Good job! Keep practicing! I want to see
you play after they pick you in the NFL Draft!
.
5-28-98 "Sweet Page Debster! Praise
Joe Montana, the best to ever play quarterback! Any idea how I can
get copies of Super Bowl XVI, IXX, XXIII, XXIV? I would love to have
them to show my future kids. Thanks," - LecMan
.
Well, there are home videos around,
but I can't comment on where to get them. My best advice? Catch
them on the EPSN sports history shows on cable. Watch the TV Guide
for the games, mark them down, program your VCR, and put in a tape.
They'll turn up eventually.
.
5-24-98 "Debbie, I personally agree with
you, and I also think that Joe, beyond any doubt, is the best quarterback
the NFL has ever known. I also enjoyed your web site." - STIAM
.
Stiam, you're in good company!
Thank you for visiting my site, and come back often!
.
5-21-98 "Nice site! Great info on
Joe! I think you would love my site too. Check it out:
ww.geocities.com/EnchantedForest/6864 There is also a Montana biography
and online number retirement ceremony! Maybe we can exchange mutual
links! Cool, later, and the rest of that stuff," - Bryan.
.
Thanks, Bryan. I'll definately
check it out!
.
5-20-98 "FANTASTIC!! I'm a Joe faithful,
and I loved every picture and word on your page. Thanks for the memories!!"
- Niki Jordan.
.
Thanks, Niki! My pleasure!
.
5-17-98 "A friend of my had told me...
I'm sorry, the show is actually named "The Adventures with Kanga Roddy."
If you do a search for it, you'll find several related articles.
The show just started airing this April, and even Michael Jordan is going
to be doing commercial for Hanes under some new agreement for
their merchandise line. I discovered
that Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott are both now heavily working on a new
children's television show, "The Adventures of Kanga Roddy." I was
just wondering if you could add information links on your web site so we
all can follow Joe in his second career. I wish him the best and
hope he can score a Super Bowl ring with this new television series." -
Eddy
.
Eddy, I certainly will. I
do have some publicity photos of the show on the "Life After Football"
page in the photo gallery. Check them out!
.
5-5-98 "Hi Debbie. Ran across a
Joe Montana interview you've probably seen it but if you haven't, it's
pretty good (except for the gum!) It can be found at www.bayinsider.com/ktvu/sports/index.html
Talk to you again" - Anna1619
.
Anna, you're the best! Thanks
for keeping us posted!
.
5-4-98 "Debbie, Hi! My name is Michelle
Smith. I live in Rochester, NY (Buffalo Bill Territory). I
am a huge Joe Montana fan. You did such a great job on this web site.
I love all the pictures. I've watched Joe play since he was on the
49ers, then I followed him to the Chiefs. Even though he retired
a 49er, I Love those Chiefs. It's so hard to talk to people
out here about the Chiefs and Joe. The only other person I talk to
is my aunt because she also loves Joe. I have a few Joe Montana collectables,
I have 2 plates that are signed. The year before Joe retired, I went
to a football game at Rich Stadium in Buffalo, and my seats were on the
Chiefs sideline. I was three rows up from the field, and it was GREAT.
I got this great picture of Joe, it's my most prized possession.
The only thing that would top that off is if I could ever get that autographed
by the man himself. I have more that I would like to ask you, but
I don't have time right now. It would be great to hear from
you. By the way my E-Mail address stands for Michelle Loves K.C.
Chiefs. I 'm sure you'll hear from me again, have a good night.
Sincerely," Michelle Smith.
.
Michelle, I have to tell you, I
love the Chiefs. I followed Joe over to Kansas City. And it
hasn't worn off. The year before last, I dragged my hubby with me
to see them play the Chargers in San Diego. I had so much fun!
We did the whole enchalada: I got us both Indian headdresses with
red, black, and white feathers, Chiefs warpaint on our faces, Indian beads,
bells on our tennis shoes, and red pom poms. The hilarious thing
about it (much to my hubby's chagrin) was that the seats we had were smack
dab in the middle of the Chargers season ticket holders section.
We trotted down there, and this old man who was sitting in the seats next
to us, stood up and said "Who the hell gave you these seats?!!" Such
abuse! I loved it! And the Chiefs won! Needless to say,
we made a hasty retreat back to our car before we got scalped. Keep
in touch!
.
5-4-98 "Debbie, Thank you for the address
for "Joe" checks. I now have them ordered. You were really
quick in replying to me, and I really appreciate it! Your web site
is cool. I couldn't remember where I had seen information about those
checks, but, I knew you'd know! Thanks again! P.S. I am planning
on visiting California in June and want to go by a place called "The Fan
Club." It's the retail store where I purchased that Joe poster from.
Have you ever received any information from the Joe Fan Club? Just
wondered. Take care" - Kim Chadbourne.
.
Hi, Kim! Yes, I get a mailing
from them from time to time. I'm glad I don't live nearby, I'd be
blowing a lot of money on pictures and running out of walls to put them
on. Enjoy!
.
5-2-98 "Hey! Saw your web site, thought
it was great!!! I thought I was the only one that loved Joe that
much. Now I know I am not alone. I have just about all those
magazine covers and some of the pictures also. I have one whole room
with all of his stuff on the wall and on some shelves. I also have
the checks that you ordered from Styles. Everyone thinks that I am
crazy. I was very upset when he retired. I am not really into
football as much as I was. Have you met him before? I was hoping
to see him at the opening of the All Star Cafe in Orlando, but they kept
changing the Grand Opening date and I wasn't able to make it. Well
just wanted to say you have a great web site
and I am also a big fan of his." - Sincerely, Tiffany
.
Thanks, Tiffany! I love my
checks, too! People used to think I was crazy, but word gets around.
Now those same people ask me to settle arguments about Montana trivia and
want to know my predictions on next week's games. Actually,
my Pigskin Pigs aren't too bad this year! No, I never had the
pleasure of meeting Joe - but he's going to be in Anaheim next year at
a sports card show, and I'm going to be there for sure! Take care!
.
4-29-98 "I thought that Joe Montana was
in a movie called "Bingo" or something. It was about this dog that
ran away from the circus, lived with Joe's family. But he and his
family moved, and forgot the dog behind, so the dog goes across America
to find them. He also is a football player in the movie. Do you know
what movie I am talking about?? Please write me back soon, it's a
bet, thanks." - Shira.
.
Shira, are you pulling my leg?
No, I never heard this one. Maybe we should start an Urban Legend
or something. I guess I should search the filmographies on the web.
Ah, I hope you didn't wager very much. See ya!
.
4-24-98 "Dear Debbie, Our names
are James Wilson and Corey Farmer (We E-mailed you a while back).
We are from Broken Arrow, OK and we are in eighth grade. We are also
in Tech. Ed. and we both are making separate web pages with, who else, Joe Montana. We were wondering
if we could make a link to your web page, and if possible you could make
a link to our page. Our pages aren't on the web yet, but they will
be soon. We will E-Mail you back when we are on the web. Once
again, we are glad that people, much like yourself, have time to appreciate
this man's superiority (Joe Montana). James has recently been doing a
research paper on Joe Montana, and I used your web page. It was a huge help.
Of course I used a bibliography. Please E-Mail us back at the following address."
- James and Corey.
.
James and Corey, I'd be honored
to link you to my site. I'm sure it's going to be great! Maybe
you could teach me how to write Java or use Shockwave? Take
care!
.
4-24-98 "How tall is Joe? I ran
into him in an elevator at SFO and he is a lot bigger than what TV makes
look like. Thank you" - Pat Scott
.
Pat, that's called "Roughing the
Passer!" Where's my yellow flag and whistle?! No, seriously,
Joe is reportedly 6'2".
.
4-17-98 "Deb, Your web page about Joe
is awesome! I wanted to print out every picture! I'm glad I got to
e-mail him and I hope to hear from him soon! Thanks for putting it together,
I was very sad to see him leave the game, but it was for a good reason.
" - Adrienne Brunner.
.
Thanks, Adrienne. I have my
fingers crossed for you!
.
4-15-98 "Hi, Deb! I was checking
out your web site on Joe Montana. I was wondering if you had any,
or knew where I could obtain any Joe Montana screen savers. A friend
of mine is a major fan of his, and I am trying to locate some screen savers for him. Thanks," - Karen.
.
I haven't run across any, but I'll
email his site with that suggestion. Wouldn't that be great!
A big improvement over flying toasters!
.
4-8-98 "This certainly is a late "thank
you" for the information you sent me. My speech was at the beginning
of last week, and it went well. I had a lot of great information
on a lot of athletes. It's odd that I had to do so much digging to
find the good things they do, and all you have to do is turn on the TV
to hear all the bad things. At any rate, I never called or wrote
the people you mentioned. I used his name, but I had a lot of other
players to use also, so everything worked out. Thank you so much
for taking the time to help me out. My speech got a B+, but only
because my professor is dumb. :) My info
was very good. Thanks again." - Annette.
.
Hooray, Annette! Your professor
probably officiates on Sundays and gives bad calls on the field, too.
Hey, I'm proud of you! And I know your speech was not boring!
Good going, gal!
.
4-7-98 "Hi Debbie, I just needed to vent!
I'm sure you've been reading all the talk about Mr. D buying back the 49ers
and the possible roles Walsh and Montana might have. What's making
me crazy is all this stuff about how Joe would be basically useless in the front office and that his
greatest contribution would be as "VP of Hand-Shaking" and that he would
work to get rid of Steve (give me a break!!) I think Joe knows a
little something about football (just a little!!) and what it takes to
win (Chip Gannassi, owner of racing team Joe is involved with, gives Joe
lots of credit for getting his team in the winner's circle these past 2
years). As far as Steve goes, I wish people would just let it go.
I've heard Joe say lots of times there is no hatred there, just competition
(which is what makes both men what they are). So they're not best
friends. From what I can see, they have little in common aside from
the game. Let's give Joe a little credit here!!! OK I''ve vented
and feel better. Thanks for listening!" - Anna1619
.
Anna, it's all trash talk.
Joe has a degree in marketing, and he would be an asset in any business.
Steve's been playing wonderfully. They are both great QB's in their
own write. Those people talking trash fit one of the following profiles:
wannabes, has-beens, Raiders fans, or media sharks stirring up you-know-what
because it was a slow news day.
.
4-4-98 "So far, your web page is great!
I haven't gone through everything yet, but what I have gone through is
wonderful! Keep up the good work! I will probably e-mail you
more in the future." - Thursdyjoe.
.
Thank you! I'd love to hear
from you!
.
4-4-98 "Could you please let me know what
the song was and who the singer was when Joe's jersey was being retired.
I know it had the words Simply the Best in it. Thank you," - Janet
Horine
.
Sure! It's called "Simply
The Best," performed in knock-out style by the Queen of Soul, The
Fabulous Tina Turner. (Now don't everybody email me about
this, because Aretha Franklin is The First Lady of Soul.) I can still
hear her singing it through those stadium speakers right now!
.
4-3-98 "Hello, I was just on your web
site and wanted to compliment you on all your hard work. You have a really
nice setup. Well, I better go - got to look some more. Bye." - The
Biggest Joe Fan, Tony.
.
Thanks, Tony!
.
4-4-98 "Hi Deb. Long time no hear!!
I know it's the "off season," but I caught an article which had something
I thought would interest you. Of course, living in California, you
probably heard this already, but in the off-chance that you haven't...
.
The article was discussing the possible
"rift" between Eddie D. and Carmen Policy (of the 49ers) and it contained
these paragraphs....
You've heard
the latest - that DeBartolo wants to buy out his sister, basically trading
his share of the family company for control of the 49ers. That his
first move would be to fire Policy, the man who kept the 49ers on top for
the past decade. That Bill Walsh would replace Policy and Joe Montana would
become a minority owner...
.
So what should we, the
bewildered public, make of all this?
.
First, that nothing will
happen quickly. This thing could drag on for months, because DeBartolo
is the target of a federal probe into the awarding of a Louisiana gaming
license. Second, most information is speculation, not fact.
.
For instance, though
the prospect of Montana being Steve Young's boss is an intriguing one,
Montana isn't on board yet.
.
``There has not been
any substantive conversation between Eddie and Joe,'' said Montana's agent,
Peter Johnson of IMG. ``But he'd be interested in sitting down with Eddie
once the ownership situation is settled.''
Hmm... It seems there's going to be some "blood-letting"
at 49er HQ. And when it's all said and done, Joe just might
become a part-owner. Sounds like a big "shake-up" is forthcoming.
I'll be interested to see the outcome of all this.
.
Anyhoo, the article is at:
http://www.sjmercury.com/sports/niners
in case you'd like to read it. Keep
in touch!" - Datubes
.
I wonder if this might prompt
Steve to retract his statement about that "monkey on his back" now.
How interesting!
.
Well, I know you hold Steve responsible
for Joe's messy departure to KC., but, I still believe both were caught
up in the politics of running a team. But, you're right. Steve
has been under Joe's shadow ever since he left the Buccs to become a 49er.
As much as I have always loved and respected Joe (not only as an athlete,
but as a person) I kinda feel sorry for Steve - just when he thought he
"made his mark" in the Bay Area. It looks like he's gonna have that
"monkey" on his back again!! And that's a shame, because IMHO
Steve is the "2nd best" QB to ever play the position! (We all know who
the best is).
.
And, this article paints a pretty grim
picture of the "goings on"
there in Santa Clara; so if it's true,
it looks as though the 49er organization is coming apart at the seams.
And, if we speculate on the future, they may not recover (if ever) until
Steve is long gone - and Jim Drukenmiller is the "man-du-jour."
Hopefully, if this all happens, then the way I see it, the team would be
in good hands, under the direction of Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, and Dwight
Clark (re-united again!?!) Nice hearing from you again!!" - Datubes.
.
Thanks for letting me know about
this one, Datubes! Hope all is well with you and yours!
.
4-3-98 "Debbie, This is a very cool
site. I have been watching the 49ers since I was young. I still remember
seeing him play in the First Super Bowl and watching them win. I just wanted
to tell you that I like your site, and Go 49ers!" - Brandon Sentell.
.
Thanks, Brandon! Go Niners!
Drop back by from time to time.
.
4-1-98 "I was researching some information
for my 9 year old son, Joshua Rodriguez, and he printed some good information
thanks to you. Can you help find Joe's birth place and when he was
born. It's for his book report. Thank you in advance for help."
- JDR156.
.
Joe was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania.
Joshua gets an automatic A+ for subject matter!
